Like the japanese government now the korean government want to found a consortium which has the goal to develop OLED Displays and lighting technology.
In order to concentrate activities in Korea, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy created a list identifying ten core next generation materials to be developed over the next few years.

The government named this consortium World premier materials or WPM! 26 institutes and companies have formed this consortium to develop flexible displays and materials.

"The consortium’s main goal is to produce materials for a 1250mm flexible display LCDs or OLEDs to be used in a 40” flexible display TV by 2018."

LG Chem is about to invest in mass production of OLED lighting panels while Cheil Industries will invest in OLED display materials. Other medium-sized companies like Samyang EMS and SSCP and Dow Chemical are aggressively operating OLED related businesses in Korea. Reportedly, LG Chem will build a Gen 2 OLED lighting panel pilot with mass production for 2013. It is also estimated that Cheil Industries will invest about KRW 10.8 billion (USD 9.5 million) on OLED materials-ETL and HTL- and KRW9.1 billion (USD 7.9 million) on Pixel Defining Layer (PDL). Cheil Industries will build a production facility in Kumi servicing SAMD with OLED materials for small & medium displays and TVs. Samyang group, Samyang EMS and SSCP also initiated efforts in the OLED materials business. SSCP held a press conference announcing that it is supplying LITI donor film for the SMD pilot line.
