Samsung Electronics will supply 21.5-inch full HD LCD monitor panels, a segment that has already seen supply from AU Optronics (AUO), LG Display (LGD) and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), according to a report in Digitimes.

Samsung will use its 8G (2,200mmx2,500mm) production line to cut 21.5-inch monitor panels, with an efficiency of 92%, or 35 panels, per substrate, the sources noted, adding that AUO, LGD, and CPT are using 6G (1,500mmx1,850mm) production lines to cut 21.5-inch panels, with 18 units per substrate.

Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), which is promoting 21.6-inch panels, is also planning to develop 21.5-inch ones so as to have a share in a segment that is seeing growing support from competitors, the sources added. CMO is promoting 21.6-inch panels for both the monitor and TV market.
