Four Mid-Size DTV Makers Merge to Compete with Big Boys
Four small-to-mid-size digital television (DTV) vendors are poised to draw up a combined brand to challenge the local market dominated by conglomerates, according to a recent report in FPD Display.com. According to an industry insider, four local small-to-mid-size DTV companies, Apromedia, Radix Inc., Coming LCD Co. Ltd., and BM Data Telecommunication, formed a strategic alliance with Nexis, a DTV sales channel, to make inroads into the local DTV market with the brand name of Nexis.
Under the deal, such DTV vendors will focus on production of 12 kinds of PDP and LCD TVs divided by size, while Nexis will take the marketing, sales and servicing activities.
Nexis plans to receive PDP TVs (50 and 42 ) and LCD TVs (42 , 37 , 32 , and 26 ) in both types of built-in and separate set-top-boxes from four DTV firms-provided, and sell them for roughly $383- $479.
