In an interview says Paul SL Peng, president, Display Business Operation of AUO that AUO want to produce 4-5 inch AMOLEDs with 250-300 ppi in mid 2012 for the smartphone market.
AUO use low-temperature polycrystalline Si for TFT substrates. Also, we will make color panels by applying red, green and blue OLED materials with a mask vapor deposition method.
AUO want also to introduce Hyper LCD technology, its a Amorphous Si TFT Lcd from their fifth generation production line with enhanced resolution from 200ppi to 270ppi. AUO use a VA-mode LCD technology called AMVA (Advanced MVA)
Also some interesting thing is AUOs touch panel technology for Tablet Pcs. AUO developed OGS (one glass solution)” technology, which requires only one glass sheet for the substrate of a touch panel, for differentiating our products from others. In the fourth quarter of 2011, AUO started shipment of touch panels using the OGS technology for tablet computers. AUO says the AMOLED Panels from AUO has a longer lifetime and are cheaper than the panels from Samsung Mobile Display. No word about AUOs plans to introduce OLED-Tv, for a few months at FPD-International AUO shows a 32 inch OLED-Television device.
