OSD Displays has introduced new 16 x 2 and 20 x 2 character OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays. These low-power COG (chip over glass) OLEDs are designed as replacements for both VFDs (vacuum fluorescent displays) as well as monochrome LCDs. As with most passive OLEDs, these character models boast a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and virtually no limitation on view angle. They can be offered with a PCB (printed circuit board) option similar to that of standard monochrome LCD if needed, and have embedded character fonts that support English, Japanese, Russian, and various European language characters.
Benefits include a wide operating temperature of -40C to 70C and storage temperatures of -40 to 85C. They are available in five different colors: green, amber, white, blue, and red. Due in part to their compact and lightweight design, these low-power displays are ideal for handheld portable devices such as media applications, as well as for an array of medical, consumer, and industrial applications.
