Nitto Denko to Launch New LCD Optical Film Plant in China

Nitto Denko Corp. has announced it will spend about 6 billion yen to build a new plant in Shenzhen, southern China, to produce optical films for liquid crystal display television sets.

The new plant will start operating in October, aiming to generate sales of 6 billion yen in the first year, said Nitto Denko, the worlds leading producer of LCD optical films.

The new plant is designed to meet growing demand for Nitto Denkos mainstay products such as polarizers and brightness-enhancing films in Shenzhen, where LCD TV plants of Asian makers are concentrated, the company said.

To further boost production in the next two to three years, the company plans to build another plant adjacent to the new plant, investing a total of some 20 billion yen in the Shenzhen area, it said.
