LG Chem plans to jump up to be the world’s best Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) light manufacturer.
The relevant industry said yesterday that the local chemical company developed 80ml/W OLED light that boasts the world’s best luminance and made a plan to put it in the market in the second half of the year.
Last year, the chemical company already launched 45ml/W and 60ml/W OLED lights. The newly-developed 80ml/W OLED light is two times as bright as the previous one with the brightness of 45ml/W. The average brightness of fluorescent light is about 100ml/W. Having the luminance of 80ml/W, LG’s new OLED light is bright enough to substitute both incandescent and fluorescent lights.
The average brightness of other OLED lights produced by leading light makers, such as OSRAM that started making OLED light business some years before LG Chem has started, is only around 40~45ml/W.
After successfully launching the new OLED product, the local chemical goods maker is going to introduce various light panels to the market. The company is also planning to put in the market the curved OLED light panel, which was released at a relevant exhibition last year, in two or three years. For this year, the company is aiming to develop a transparent OLED light panel.
