In CNET`s first in-depth look at an OLED TV, Samsung`s KN55S9C, David Katzmaier said it "produces the best picture I`ve seen on any TV, ever." It`s also thin, bendable and oh so futuristic.”
Samsung was second to market by a couple of weeks, following LG. Samsung also elected to deliver only a curved version for now. In a surprise pricing move to undercut LG, it`s priced at $8,999. LG’s offering was priced at $9, 999.
Samsung`s OLEDs use traditional RGB subpixels (like a plasma). The TV has all the features found in Samsung`s other high-end models, like 3D, Smart Hub streaming, and a built-in camera.
A special feature possible with the KN55S9C is the ability to show two different, full resolution, 1080p images on screen at the same time. Using special active-shutter 3D glasses, one viewer can see one thing, the other person, something else. This could be as simple as you watching one show while your spouse watches another on the same TV (the glasses have earbuds built in). (Source: OLED-Info.com) |
