Samsung’s new 46-in. ultra high brightness public information display (PID) has an impressive 5.000 cd/m² that enables superior sunlight readability and exceeds existing public information displays in large sizes by a significant factor. The Hi-Brite 46-in. FHD 1920 x 1080 resolution LCD panel comes with an extremely wide viewing angle of 178°/178°, a high-speed response time of 8ms, and a high contrast ratio of 4.000:1. Operating in portrait and landscape mode and with a low power consumption, the PID matches the requirements of current digital signage applications in retail, point-of-purchase, entertainment and other applications.

Placement of screens outdoors, or indoors in high-ambient light conditions such as near a window, has been challenging in the past. The new Samsung Hi-Brite screen combats the effects of high ambient light and direct sunlight conditions by maintaining an excellent visible image. The new PID is from Samsung Semiconductor Europe. Samples will be available in Q2 and mass production is planned for Q3 2014.
